Specialty Medication Coverage: Plan Design Decisions (ET30)

Prescription drug coverage can be a difficult benefit offering to administer, but then add the anomaly of specialty medications. How do you handle them? What are the choices and what is their impact on your overall plan? This course will discuss:

• Should coverage for specialty medications be placed under the medical plan or as a carve-out pharmacy benefit?
• How should the plan sponsor determine appropriate employee cost sharing?
• How should the plan sponsor choose the best method of patient outreach and management?
• How can the plan sponsor select the most effective specialty drug vendor for the plan’s specific needs?
